Father, Nisuke, was a Stockton, Calif. barber. Mother was Misako Nakamura Yoshikawa. Parents had five children. Richard, eldest, was attending photography school in Los Angeles when family was relocated to Rohwer (Ark.) Relocation Center (1942). He left camp to continue education at School of Modern Photography in New York City (1943-1944). Edward Fumio was college age at time of internment and joined U.S. Army (1944).
